Job Description

 

Apply a systematic and designed experimental approach to develop new compounds and technologies and evaluate changes in material performance prior to commercial scale-up in manufacturing plants. Drive cost reduction and enhanced performance through compound development from bench scale to commercialization, and support cross-functional project teams in production-scale compounding and prototype processing trials within applicable GCC manufacturing facility associated with research and development projects. Conduct investigations and apply new material technologies from a variety of suppliers. Meet key raw material suppliers to keep updated on technology developments that could impact GCC's technology, work with tight deadlines as well as contribute to longer term R&D projects. Coordinate and execute laboratory experiments, work independently and with laboratory technicians to complete project tasks, create and modify compound specifications to support the manufacture of new or existing compounds, prepare informative and accurate technical reports, and update and maintain records/database on compound changes or modifications. Drive Seed Innovation programs by deploying internal resources and identifying, developing and leveraging Open Innovation partners.

 

Job Requirements

 

  • Employer requires a master's degree in Materials Science Engineering or related, and one year of relevant experience. Employer will also accept a bachelor's degree in Materials Science Engineering or related, and three years of relevant experience.
  • Polymer compound development and processing
  • Structure property relationships of polymer blends
  • Delivering projects and communicating results in written and verbal presentation
  • Managing and executing multiple technical projects at one time
  • Interacting with cross-functional teams.

Hours: Full-time (8am-5pm, Monday to Friday)
