Overview:

Bringing Health, Safety and Environmental leadership to assigned facility, the Plant Regional Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Manager leads the development and execution of HSE initiatives in partnership with facility leadership at assigned location to promote a Zero & Beyond culture.  The Plant Regional HSE Manager will provide oversight and assistance in the development, implementation and coordination of health, safety and environmental programs and policies to ensure corporate goal attainment as well as compliance with all applicable regulations.  In addition, this role will also have responsibilities to assist the NA Director of HSE in the development, implementation and ongoing support of key NA Corporate HSE Initiatives and processes at other NA Facilities.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the development, implementation, training, and maintenance of facility policies, programs and procedures to reduce team member injury, minimize company exposure and ensure compliance with corporate HSE management system and all applicable HSE regulations (OSHA; EPA; DOT; etc.).
  • Assists in the development, implementation, and ongoing support of Key Corporate HSE Initiatives across other North America locations, as assigned by Director of HSE.
  • Leads and maintains certification of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 processes.
  • Conducts and assists with internal and external HSE audits and meets with regulatory agencies during facility inspections/audits as required.
  • Ensures ongoing compliance with all environmental permits, regulations, and reporting requirements for assigned facility.
  • Ensures alignment on programs involving team member engagement and behavior-based safety processes.
  • Builds competent HSE teams at facility sites through communicating corporate procedures, coaching, training, and follow up on issues related to HSE.
  • Partners with facility teams to develop strategies and execution plans in response to key HSE initiatives to promote a Zero & Beyond culture.
  • Proactively provides hands-on support in areas such as: Health, Safety and Environmental Procedure implementation (Corporate and site specific), behavioral safety processes, corporate safety mandates, problem analysis/troubleshooting, and interpretation of applicable regulatory regulations.
  • Acts as a support resource in the development and review of facility specific HSE training needs analysis, operational reviews and new installation assessments.
  • Leads investigations into serious or critical HSE matters as directed by senior leadership.
  • Partners with Facility leadership to participate in key HSE team meetings, Kaizen/Gemba events, and other key meetings where HSE representation is requested.
  • Drives an incident reporting process that ensures effective investigation, reporting, corrective actions, and best practice sharing throughout their business unit and corporate.
  • Works closely with HSE counterparts and serves as region representative to cross-regional forums for best practice sharing, idea exchange, shared learning, etc.
  • Serves as a resource in the design, implementation, and maintenance of Corporate HSE policies, programs, and procedures to ensure compliance with all applicable Safety and Environmental regulations.

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • 5-8 years of direct HSE experience including OSHA and EPA compliance, behavior-based safety, process hazard and risk analysis, root cause evaluation, incident management, standards and procedural development, auditing, and training.
  • Experience in multi-site leadership of HSE initiatives.
  • Demonstrated passion for safety and environmental excellence.
  • Knowledge of US health and safety regulations and ISO Management Systems (OSHA, EPA, ISO14001 & 45001, NFPA etc.).
  • Knowledge of worker’s compensation regulations.
  • Strong organizational & planning skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills & problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with technology such as excel, PowerPoint, Word and other standard computer applications.
  • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills (oral & written), able to interact with all levels in the organization.
  • Knowledge of cable manufacturing desirable.
  • Ability to travel overnight approximately 25% of the time.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and or environmental studies, engineering, or other related field.

 

 

 

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

  • Works out of a normal office environment with standard office equipment available.
  • Will be required to sit, bend, kneel, squat, use keyboard, read, write, and speak fluently.
  • Employee will be required to work productively and cooperatively in a high-volume, fast paced, highly pressured environment and be able to respond efficiently and courteously to unanticipated problems and crisis.
  • This role is not typically exposed to adverse environmental conditions except for excessive eye strain
