Overview:
Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Manufacturing Manager is responsible for the manufacturing process to effectively use materials, labor and equipment to meet production targets, manufacturing strategic objectives/metrics, process improvements and lead the transition to operator led process control. The Manufacturing Manager is also responsible for maintaining and initiating all health, safety and environmental standards, determining training and development needs of hourly associates, and achieving manufacturing objectives as identified in the business plan.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Achieves daily, weekly, monthly production targets at minimal cost and maximum efficiency.
  • Engineering degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Determines appropriate skill sets for operators throughout the plant.  Sets-up training schedules to maintain skill levels.  Works to improve operator flexibility, work assignment and reduce labor costs.
  • Drives continuous improvement through appropriate coaching, training, and process improvement.
  • Champions, with Cell Leaders, operator led process control, lean manufacturing and six sigma concepts and programs.
  • Knowledge or application of Operator Led Process Control (OLPC).
  • Administers company policies and practices.
  • Works with materials management to optimize load, to minimize downtime, bottlenecks, unfavorable material mix and to reduce raw material, WIP and FG inventories.
  • Works with Engineering to enhance process improvement resulting in achieving productivity goals, reducing scrap and improving JIT inventory.  Ensures preventative maintenance programs match production requirements.
  • Champions manufacturing bold objectives and possesses Project Management skills through leading and facilitating projects.
  • Experience facilitating organizational change with good oral and verbal communication skills.
  • Works with Quality control to enhance in process controls to minimize scrap and meet customer quality standards.
  • Uses Leansigma tools to troubleshoot recurring issues and eliminate root cause process failures.
  • Trains and facilitates Cell Leaders in achieving improved productivity and reduction of waste. (muda)
  • Analyzes KPI, prepares charts/records and initiate remedial action.
  • Champions health and safety, environment, good housekeeping and 5S programs.
  • Performs other related duties as required

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Results driven
  • Ability to manage multiple, complex tasks with excellent attention to detail

  • Excellent analytical abilities
  • Solid planning, leadership and administrative skills
  • Good understanding of business principles and practices and ability to apply them
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma and lean manufacturing
  • Project Management experience


Qualifications:

  • Engineering Degree or equivalent
  • 7-10 years manufacturing management experience
  • Project management experience
  • Proven ability to work in a team setting
