Electronic - Electrical Troubleshooter (2nd Shift)

I. Purpose of Position

To provide maintenance, design, installation, troubleshooting, and startup of all PLC’s AC/DC Drives, low voltage/high voltage relay control circuits, AC/DC motor’s, as well as basic mechanical troubleshooting in the Lexington facility in support of the efficient cost effective and timely production of Products to satisfy customer demands and Standards with regard to quality, features, delivery dates, and product performance.


II. Requirements:


  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • AAS in Electronics preferred or four years on the job experience as Electronical/Electrical troubleshooter
  • Registered electrician preferred but not required.



2 years Associate Degree in Electronics with at least 2 years Industrial Maintenance experience as Electronic/Electrical troubleshooter, or 4 years Industrial Maintenance experience working as Electronic/Electrical troubleshooter.


· Experience in:

  • Allen-Bradley PLCs.
  • Maintenance of electronic/electrical equipment including three phase drives and motors. As well as DC drives and motors.
  • Troubleshooting of production equipment.
  • Interacting with outside contractors.
  • Knowledge of equipment safety devices.
  • Ability to read and comprehend blueprints, schematics, and written instructions and perform material takeoffs for projects.
  • Ability to safely operate power/hand tools, fork lifts, and cranes.
  • Knowledge of instrumentation used in process control, including RTDs, thermocouples, and heat controllers.
  • Basic mechanical troubleshooting. Such as Gears, bearings, shafts etc.


III. Specific Responsibilities

· Installs, maintains, and services all programmable controllers (Allen Bradley) in manufacturing equipment.

· Implements all programming modifications to meet specific production requirements.

· Maintains and troubleshoots Allen Bradley PLCs, DC drives, and DC motors to minimized downtime.

· Design and build relay logic systems such as motor control systems and the like.

· Performs preventative maintenance on electronic production controllers and maintains associated documentation.

· Communicates with all levels of management, engineering and production employees to transfer knowledge and technical skills.

· Meets/interacts with outside contractors on maintenance/repair/troubleshooting projects requiring manufacturer’s assistance.

· Required to troubleshoot mechanical problems with production equipment.

· Required to do basic mechanical repairs and assist mechanic with repairs.

· Consistently must observe established safety standards and/or guidelines.

· Consistently must meet quality standards and comply with applicable codes and regulations.

· Is required to adhere to all Policies, Procedures, Rules and Regulations in effect now, or in the future.

· Machines are on two levels which will require ability to climb vertical ladder.
