Lead Engineer- Product Development

Lincoln RI

 

Prepare product development designs for new / enhanced products and validates product design to customer specifications

 

Assess plant capabilities related to new product development

 

Prepares recommended sample / test plans for product development, internal labs and third-party approval agencies

 

As appropriate participate in factory level experimental trials concerning new products and compound implementation

 

Responsible for third party (UL, ETL, CSA, etc.) submittals listings and final approval adopting the widest range of approval that can be granted

 

Develop DTC plans with R&D support and implement to meet plan

 

Support manufacturing in new product industrialization, as required

 

Maintain and measure monthly new product development sales with Purchasing maintain and measure monthly DTC savings

 

Actively participate in appropriate technical committees and standards development (e.g., UL, CSA, IEEE, ICEA) that affect at minimum PA product developments

 

Coordinate with Materials Lab (ND or Lex, appropriate) to ensure all new materials are properly approved

 

Fields customer inquiries by applying cable design knowledge and determines our ability to quote on specific customer opportunities

 

Prepares product specification sheets and product drawings for internal and external customers

 

Essential skills and Experience (must haves)

BS in Electrical, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering

Preferably 2-6 years professional level engineering experience in cable industry

Good systems/ computer skills with strong knowledge of Cable Builder, HFA, Microsoft tools (Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

Highly developed team skills, both as a team member and leader- self starter

Strong Problem Solving, Planning and Analytical skills

Able to learn new ideas, concepts and skills quickly and effectively

Knowledge of extrusion processing preferred

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

This job operates in an office and manufacturing environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to grasp small items, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
