Team Overview and Job responsibilities

We are looking for a Head of Engineering Department Network Components who will be based in the Milan HQ of Prysmian Group and will report directly to the HV R&D and Engineering Manager Business Unit Network Components. As Head of Engineering department, the candidate will be responsible for the design and engineering of HV Network Components. Looking for a person who can lead and manage the engineering team to achieve the following targets:

  • Engineering: design and engineer the full range of NWC based on R&D input and market/customer requirement.
    • Creation of the BOM, management of the products in SAP
    • Cost management. She /he is the main reference for product cost.
    • Create all drawings and JI
    • Set up and lead design improvement projects.
    • Lead DTC projects.
  • Product Management
    • Managing product information
      • Manage and create brochures & leaflets
      • Manage and create datasheets
    • Lead on product improvement based on specific market requirements
    • Analyze market requirements and propose product adaptations and/or product development
    • Improve the user experience and product-quality in a cost-efficient way
    • Failure analysis
    • Deploying new products, work together with the other NWC departments (R&D, Purchasing, operation, quality) to ensure supply-chain and Quality Assurance is setup
  • First line technical support
    • Assist system engineers with first-line questions
    • Be the interface with all affiliates
    • Assist installation team and project managers with installation related questions
  • Commercial
    • Ensure product acceptance by customer-base
    • Assist commercial colleagues (system engineers / backoffice) in technical write-up and products selection.
    • Assist sales in giving presentations to end-customers

 

Key Requirements:

  • We are looking for a candidate with previous 5 to 7 years of professional experience within a similar role
  • Pro-active and persistent, someone who can lead change
  • Must be able to empathize with customers (internal and external when needed)
  • Must be able to translate customer problems into business opportunities
  • Looking for a team player who is able to interact with diverse range of people from R&D, sales and customers
  • Engineering background is a must, Electrical or Electronic engineering will be considered a plus
